CamBio consolidates its presence in Panamá

Following the partnership between CamBio and Ciudad del Saber, formalised last January, a team from our campus has visited this country between the 22nd and the 27th of February.

The main aim of our visit was to present the particulars of the programme ‘Campus de Excelencia Internacional’ and, more specifically, of CEI CamBio in the Ciudad del Saber. Contacts were also made with the Panama Canal Authority and with Andalusian and Spanish firms operating in the country, in order to establish collaborative relationships and in order to find funding mechanisms, in accordance with their corporate philosophy on social responsibility. This will create the opportunity to carry out training, research, transference and innovation activities in cooperation with Panamanian institutions, all with the ultimate aim of reinforcing sustainable economy models.

We must highlight that the Academic Direction of Fundación Ciudad del Saber not only received us magnificently but have also organised – with the utmost rapidity – CamBio’s premises in Building 120 of the Ciudad del Saber. These premises will be shared with Campus Studii Salamantini and Health Universitat de Barcelona Campus HUBc. The field of specialisation of this centre of excellence will be the conservation of biodiversity, for which task Panama is a privileged laboratory. The centre will also offer official university training.

After the good reception given to CEI CamBio’s director’s speech by the miscellaneous audience congregated at the Centro de Formación y Negocios, Ciudad del Saber, on February 23, and the interviews maintained with organisations such as EXTENDA, AYESA/SADIEL, the Cámara de Comercio, etc., we can say that our aim – the strengthening of links with the local and international organisations there installed – has been achieved. This will no doubt bring us closer to our ultimate goal, which is the creation of ecosystems of knowledge towards employment, social cohesion and territorial economic development.
