Orientation booklet - Spring 2010

The program for foreigners is designed to meet the needs of both Spanish majors and those pursuing studies in other fields but with a strong interest in Spain and Latin America. It also caters to the needs of those with little or no background in Spanish by offering classes taught in English both on Spanish culture as well as in the sciences. A placement exam will determine the language level of each student.

Attendance at all classes will be mandatory and monitored by each professor. Periodical exams, homework assignments and final exams will also be administered.

The list of courses presented is for both the fall and spring semesters. Course offerings are subject to sufficient enrollment. Students are expected to enroll in 12-15 credit hours per semester and may choose to study for one semester or for the full year. Students with excellent Spanish language skills may enroll in a maximum of two regular university courses per semester.
Students with advanced Spanish skills who remain at Pablo de Olavide University for the entire academic year are may be awareded the Diploma of Hispanic Studies. Students whose classes are all conducted in Spanish will read in their transcript "Advanced Hispanic Studies Program" instead of simply "Hispanic Studies Program
