Presentation

This is an advanced postgraduate programme that deals with ecology and conservation biology of organisms and ecosystems. The theoretical and practical content aims at carrying out high-level research, and using this to obtain technological developments within the field of the conservation of natural heritages and the management of protected natural areas. Students will learn the current causes, components and consequences of the changes in biodiversity and global change processes, as well as being given the tools and research methods in order to study them. The main focus will be organisms and terrestrial ecosystems from the Mediterranean.
In this programme, the Estación Biológica de Doñana (Doñana Biological Station) and the Pablo de Olavide University work in close academic collaboration. Their purpose is to offer their academic, research and teaching resources, related to environmental science, in order to contribute together with the academic university development in Andalusia.
The Masters degree has a practical bias so that students can get to know advanced tools that will help them research on biodiversity and conservation biology. Rather than simply teaching, emphasis is placed on developing abilities, identifying working tools and training students in how to use them efficiently when researching.
