ABA is a cultural and scientific non-profit organisation aimed at promoting the development of agro-ecological scientific principles, thus encouraging the generation of scientific knowledge and spreading the message of rural wisdom.

It is a scientific institution based on the epistemological principles of agro-ecology. As a consequence of this – and unlike many other bodies – it includes not only researchers and scholars, but also farmers, students, rural workers, consumers; in short, all agents involved in the substitution of the non-sustainable development and agricultural models still prevailing. For ABA, agro-ecology is a multidisciplinary branch of knowledge aimed at the creation of ecology-based agricultural models and the implementation of rural development strategies with reference to the ideal of sustainability.
