Since its creation in 1989, this centre has undertaken a wide programme of activities focused around the Mediterranean, including actions and projects aimed at promoting a mutual understanding, dialogue and cooperation between countries, societies and cultures in the Euro-Mediterranean region. The ultimate aim of this commitment is to contribute to the progressive creation of a common space of peace, stability and prosperity in the Mediterranean area, as set forth in the Barcelona Process and today implemented through Union for the Mediterranean (UpM) and the European Neighbourhood Policy (PEV).
