The session will feature a keynote by Pance Naumov from NYU Abu Dhabi, an exceptional researcher renowned for his work in organic nanomaterials.<\/p>\n<p><b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"0\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-968\" src=\"https:\/\/www.upo.es\/cnats\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/WorkshopPanceFoto.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"115\" \/>PAN\u010cE NAUMOV<i>:<\/i><\/b><i> <\/i>Full Professor of Chemistry, New York University Abu Dhabi | Director, Center for Smart Engineering Materials | Smart Materials Lab<\/p>\n<p><b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">ABSTRACT:<\/b> Research in solid-state chemistry, crystal engineering, and crystallography has progressively moved from a primary emphasis on structure toward the relationship between structure, properties, and function in organic solids. Within this framework, adaptive molecular single crystals have emerged as a promising class of materials for lightweight, flexible, and environmentally benign devices. This lecture examines recent advances in dynamic organic crystals and situates them within the broader agenda of crystal adaptronics. Particular attention will be given to the capacity of these materials to undergo fast, reversible, and continuous responses to external stimuli, as well as to their prospective use in memories, capacitors, sensors, and actuators. He is also Global Network Professor of Chemistry at New York University and holds a cross-appointment at the Molecular Design Institute. He received his PhD in Chemistry and Materials Science from Tokyo Institute of Technology and previously held research and faculty positions at NIMS, Osaka University, and Kyoto University. His research focuses on adaptive molecular crystals, crystal engineering, and the structure-property-function relationships of organic solids. He has authored more than 300 publications, secured over USD 15 million in external research funding, and currently serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
