Es especialista en la historia de las religiones en el Imperio Romano y se dedica en particular al estudio del sentimiento religioso en la construcci\u00f3n de la comunidad. Sobre este tema lidera actualmente junto al profesor Fernando Lozano (US) el proyecto \u00abDiscursos del Imperio romano: Un Imperio ceremonial\u00bb (2025-2029), financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovaci\u00f3n. Ha dedicado numerosos estudios a la evoluci\u00f3n de la religi\u00f3n c\u00edvica en las ciudades griegas del Imperio Romano, a la experiencia religiosa y a la difusi\u00f3n de los cultos is\u00edacos en el Mediterr\u00e1neo.
