cient\u00edfico del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (1999), destinado en la Escuela de Estudios Hispano-Americanos, de la cual ha sido director en dos periodos. Complet\u00f3 su formaci\u00f3n en el Instituto de Investigaciones Hist\u00f3rica (UNAM) y en la Southern Methodist University (Dallas). Obtuvo la C\u00e1tedra Conacyt con destino a la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Zacatecas. Est\u00e1 especializado en la Expansi\u00f3n Europea en Am\u00e9rica y el Pac\u00edfico, as\u00ed como en la construcci\u00f3n del Americanismo espa\u00f1ol (siglos XIX-XX). Adem\u00e1s del libro de referencia\u00a0<\/span><i>La aventura de lo imposible. Expediciones mar\u00edtimas espa\u00f1olas<\/i><span>\u00a0(Madrid, Museo Naval, 2000), cabe destacar\u00a0<\/span><i>Poblar la inmensidad. Sociedades, conflictividad y representaci\u00f3n en los m\u00e1rgenes del Imperio Hisp\u00e1nico (siglos XV-XIX)<\/i><span>\u00a0(Madrid, Ediciones Rubeo-CSIC, 2010);\u00a0<\/span><i>La Nao de China, 1565-1815. Navegaci\u00f3n, comercio e intercambios culturales<\/i><span>\u00a0(Sevilla, Universidad de Sevilla, 2014),\u00a0<\/span><i>Un oc\u00e9ano de seda y plata: el universo econ\u00f3mico del Gale\u00f3n de Manila<\/i><span>\u00a0(Madrid, CSIC, 2013), en colaboraci\u00f3n con Carlos Mart\u00ednez Shaw, y\u00a0<\/span><i>Conocer el Pac\u00edfico. Exploraciones, im\u00e1genes y formaci\u00f3n de sociedades oce\u00e1nicas<\/i><span>\u00a0(Sevilla, Editorial Universidad de Sevilla, 2015), coordinado junto a Carmen Mena y Emilio Jos\u00e9 Luque Azcona. Durante varios a\u00f1os ha sido secretario de redacci\u00f3n y director del Anuario de Estudios Americanos.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section
