Irene Vicente-Mart\u00edn es graduada en Historia por la Universidad de Salamanca y doctora en Historia y Civilizaci\u00f3n por el Instituto Universitario Europeo de Florencia (2022), con la tesis \u201cHolding the Empire at Bay: The elites of Salvador de Bahia and the Hispanic Monarchy in Brazil (1581-1640)\u201d. Desde 2024 es investigadora postdoctoral MSCA en la Universidad de Salamanca. Anteriormente fue investigadora Marcel Bataillon en el Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies (Madrid) e investigadora del proyecto \u201cRevisiting Johan Maurits and Dutch Brazil\u201d en La Haya (Pa\u00edses Bajos), obteniendo tambi\u00e9n el contrato Juan de la Cierva. Especializada en la historia social y pol\u00edtica de Brasil durante los siglos XVI y XVII, ha trabajado cuestiones de sociabilidad, faccionalismo y din\u00e1micas regionales de poder, empleando el an\u00e1lisis de redes sociales para reconstruir los v\u00ednculos de la sociedad brasile\u00f1a. Recientemente, su investigaci\u00f3n se ha centrado en el impacto cultural de la \u201cJornada del Brasil\u201d (1625), analizando tanto la propaganda escrita como la producci\u00f3n pict\u00f3rica y su circulaci\u00f3n europea, as\u00ed como el proceso de ocultaci\u00f3n activa de estas cr\u00f3nicas sobre las realidades locales y los conflictos internos en Salvador que resultaban inconvenientes para el discurso oficial. Como resultado de estas investigaciones, ha publicado art\u00edculos en Anuario de Estudios Americanos, Memoria y Civilizaci\u00f3n, M\u00e9langes de la Casa de Vel\u00e1zquez y Anais de Hist\u00f3ria de Al\u00e9m-Mar, as\u00ed como numerosos cap\u00edtulos de libro (Brill, Doce Calles, S\u00edlex). Su monograf\u00eda, en preparaci\u00f3n para Routledge, se titula \u201cThe City of Salvador and the Collective Construction of Early Modern Brazil\u201d y ver\u00e1 la luz en 2026.<\/div>
