Para el fundador de la Sociolog\u00eda Ambiental, Riley Dunlap, la conciencia ambiental se define como \u201cel grado en el cual las personas son conscientes de los problemas concernientes al medio ambiente y apoyan esfuerzos para solventarlos y\/o la voluntad de implicaci\u00f3n para contribuir personalmente a su soluci\u00f3n\u201d (Dunlap &amp; Jones 2002: 485).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La l\u00ednea tiene una vocaci\u00f3n internacionalista, buscando diferencias, similitudes, causas y mecanismos siempre en el \u00e1mbito internacional en lugar de estudios de caso locales. Tambi\u00e9n se utilizan m\u00e9todos de investigaci\u00f3n cuantitativos, desde regresiones a an\u00e1lisis factoriales y t\u00e9cnicas multinivel.
