Manuel P\u00e9rez Garc\u00eda<\/a>\u00a0is currently a Tenured Associate Professor at the Department of History, Shanghai Jiao Tong University<\/a>Formerly he was an Associate Professor at the School of International Studies, Renmin University of China, between 2013 and 2017. He was awarded a Ph.D. by the European University Institute in Florence (Italy). \n\nHe was recently awarded an ERC (European Research Council)-Starting Grant<\/strong>within the funding program Horizon 2020 of the European Union Funding for Research & Innovation to carry out the project GECEM (Global Encounters between China and Europe)<\/em><\/a>. He is also the founder and director of Global History Network en China (GHN)<\/em>,the first Global History academic network established in China.<\/a>.<\/p>\n He was a Marie Curie Research Fellow at UCBerkeley, International Institute for Asian Studies (Leiden University), a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of History at Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) in 2011 and Visiting Professor at the UNAM (Mexico), University of Tokyo (Japan) and University of Macerata (Italy).<\/p>\n Some of his latest publications include Vicarious Consumers: Transnational Meetings between the West and East (1730-1808)<\/em> (Routledge, 2013); China and Latin America in Transition Policy Dynamics, Economic Commitments, and Social Impacts<\/em> (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2016); Global History and New Polycentric Approaches: Europe, Asia and the Americas in a World Network System<\/em>co-edited with Lucio de Sousa (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2017).
