Elisa Alonso Jiménez

Dr. Elisa Alonso works as a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Languages and Translation at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and with her work she has earned the Teaching Excellence Award within the Docentia-A-UPO programme.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from University of Granada (UGR) and she is a Sworn Translator-Interpreter of English. In 2014, she earned her PhD degree with international and cum laude distinction given unanimously within the programme “Literatura y Estética en la Sociedad de la Información”, on literature and aesthetics in the information society, and also with the PhD extraordinary award for her thesis titled Traducción y tecnología. Análisis del uso y la percepción de Wikipedia por parte de los profesionales de la traducción, on the use and perception of Wikipedia by translation professionals.

She is a member of the research team GITTCUS on communication theory and technology. She has carried out competitive research stays at Real Colegio Complutense of Harvard University (2010), Imperial College London (2013) and University of Bristol (2018, within the mobility programme José Castillejo).

She has taken part in several national and international R&D&I projects. Her research is mainly focused on human interaction with technological media within the processes of expert translation and communication.
