Dr. Adrián Fuentes Luque received his PhD degree in Translation from University of Granada (UGR). Currently, he works as a Senior Lecturer of Translation at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), where he was also the Director of the Master’s Degree in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting. He worked as a lecturer at University of Cádiz, University of Granada, and University of Portsmouth and as a Visiting Lecturer at several universities, such as University of Puerto Rico and Colorado State University.
As a professional translator, he served as a Chief Translator-Interpreter at the Australian Embassy in Spain and has worked for several institutions and companies (SDI Media, Cambridge University Press, British Council, etc.). He works as an external translator for the International Maritime Organization and the Museo Nacional del Prado.
His main work and research interests are found in the areas of audiovisual translation, history of translation, tourism and advertising translation, translation of humour, and institutional translation. He has contributed to these fields with many publications, such as the only monograph, to date, about translation in tourism.
