Dr. Juan Antonio Prieto Velasco received his Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from University of Granada (UGR) in 2004, his Master’s degree in Medical Translation from University Jaume I (UJI) in 2015 and his PhD degree at UGR in 2008. He works as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages and Translation at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), where he has taught Scientific and Technical Translation since 2009. He is also the Director of the Master’s degree in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting in that same university.
Since 2004, he has been a member of the research group LexiCon, where he carries out research on medical translation, visualization of specialized knowledge and inclusive translation for the access to specialized knowledge.
Recently, his research has mainly focused on the translation and analysis of materials for scientific dissemination in the form of accessible graphic novels and medical comics.
