Nuria Ponce Márquez

Dr. Nuria Ponce Márquez is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Languages and Translation at Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). She is also a Sworn Translator and Interpreter. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology, a Bachelor’s degree in German Philology and a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting. She also received her Master’s degree in translation of specialised texts, interpreting and dubbing in Spanish and German from University of Seville (US), as well as a specialist course in translation and localisation of videogames (ISTRAD). In 2009, she obtained her PhD degree and earned the Outstanding Doctorate Award.

Since 2005, she holds a position as lecturer and researcher in the area of Translation and Interpreting at Pablo de Olavide University. She has taught within the degree on Translation and Interpreting and within the double degree on Humanities and Translation and Interpreting, with which she has earned the Teaching Excellence Merit in the Docentia-A-UPO programme. Likewise, she has taught in several postgraduate programs where she has guided more than a score of Master’s degree final projects. She has also collaborated in more than ten teaching innovation projects, both at UPO and at interuniversity level, and in various competitive research projects.

Regarding her work as a researcher, she is currently a member of the research team from University of Granada (UGR) HUM-466: Acceso y Evaluación de la Información Científica, on scientific information, led by María Dolores Olvera Lobo. Her main research interests are translation of humour and cultural references; localization of website content, mobile applications, and videogames; conference interpreting; and translators and interpreters training. In 2020, she designed and registered in the Intellectual Property Registry the mobile application CronoTrad, aimed at improving the efficiency during the translation process for both budding and professional translators.
