UNWANTED around the world

Lead by historian Deborah Besseghini and nurtured by the project’s network SIDE, UNWANTED has been presented in several part of the world to demonstrate history is yet to be updated. Through presentantions, talks and seminars, Deborah has made the world aware that what we used to know about the Napoleonic wars is incomplete and that there is much more to discuss and rediscover to understand how it impacted other countrie’s histories.

At the International Colloquium on History “Transcending Borders, Integrating Spaces” at FIL Guadalajara, Mexico I had the opportunity to explain my research hypothesis on the key role of Latin America in financing the Napoleonic Wars. It was my first time at this Fair and a particularly meaningful experience, both for the quality of the conversations and for the access to the latest publications on a huge diversity of topics.

Deborah Besseghini

This quote from Deborah, helps us understand the dimension of her work and how it has been leading to new connections with the very countries her hypothesis could impact. Her questions around uncovering the unplanned impacts of the Napoleonic wars allows historians from other countries to open previously closed doors to start new projects with the sole purpose of finding the truth behind latin american history. From Spain, to Mexico, England, Argentina and many more countries she pretends to spread the word of her discoveries so that others can open new doors and discover new stories with her.
