The INDYE (Indoor Photovoltaics with Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells) consortium successfully held its first progress meeting at CEA-Grenoble on March 25, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the development of sustainable indoor energy solutions. The meeting, hosted by Dr. Renaud Demadrille’s research group, brought together experts to discuss advancements in ambient light recycling for next-generation digital technologies.
The INDYE project focuses on harnessing indoor light to power small electronic devices, reducing dependence on conventional batteries. By leveraging the versatility and high efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) under diffuse light, the consortium aims to develop eco-friendly photovoltaic (PV) devices optimized for artificial lighting conditions. Key objectives include:
- Enhancing optical compatibility with common indoor light sources.
- Maximizing voltage output under low-light conditions.
- Promoting sustainability through the use of nontoxic, recyclable materials.
The INDYE consortium brings together leading researchers and institutions dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions for everyday applications. With a strong emphasis on innovation and environmental responsibility, the project paves the way for a greener future in digital technology.
