María José Rodríguez Ruiz holds a degree in German Philology from the University of Seville and a degree in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Granada. She completed her academic training with an Official Master’s Degree in International Communication, Translation and Interpreting at the Pablo de Olavide University. She is also a Sworn Translator-Interpreter of English, appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since 2003. She joined the Department of Philology and Translation at the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville in 2008 as an associate professor, a task she combines with professional translation and teaching at Secondary Education and High School. Previously, she developed her professional career as an English and German translator and interpreter for a Ministry of Defense project in a multinational engineering company. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis on the audiovisual translation of children’s cartoon series. Her main lines of research are audiovisual translation, translation of children’s products and prefabricated orality.
