2nd Annual Conference of the Spanish Society for Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine (IABIOMED)
October 30
Members of SIALAB will join leading researchers, clinicians, and industry experts on October 30th to discuss the latest breakthroughs, translational challenges, and future trends in biomedical AI.
We are excited to announce that several members of the SynergIA Laboratory (SIALAB) team will be traveling to Barcelona to attend the II Annual Conference of the Spanish Society of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine (IABiomed 2026).
Following our participation in the 1st IABiomed Conference in Seville in 2025, our team is eager to connect once again with the Spanish biomedical AI community. This annual gathering serves as a vital meeting point to share progress, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, and bridge the gap between academic research, clinical practice, and industrial application.
📍 Venue: Auditorium of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (HSPAU), Barcelona, Spain
📅 Date: October 30, 2026
🔗 Event Details & Registration: IABiomed Official Website (Note: Registration is mandatory due to limited capacity).
Key Highlights of the Conference
The conference is structured into three thematic sessions designed to address the lifecycle, challenges, and integration of AI in health:
-
🚀 Session 1: Innovating and Undertaking with AI (09:30 – 11:40)
Focused on how AI is driving new business models and competitive advantages in disease prevention and diagnosis. Utilizing a fast-paced “PechaKucha” presentation format, speakers from leading startups like Sycai Medical, BrainFocus, and QUIBIM will share real-world use cases, clinical validation strategies, and scaling methodologies.
-
🏥 Session 2: Clinical Understanding of AI (12:30 – 14:00)
A vital session featuring medical experts who will provide a practical, honest look at the integration of AI in daily healthcare and research. Clinicians from Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge will discuss adoption barriers, unfilled clinical needs, and how technologies must adapt to be truly useful and responsible in the hospital setting.
-
🎓 Session 3: Learning with AI (15:30 – 18:00)
Academic and university speakers will dive into the future of research, education, and knowledge transfer. Highlighting emerging methodological frameworks—such as Explainable AI (XAI) in Transformer models—this session will explore how academia acts as an innovation engine to train the next generation of biomedical AI professionals.
Networking and Collaboration
At SynergIA Lab, we strongly believe that tackling complex biomedical challenges requires deep collaboration between computer scientists, clinical researchers, and industry pioneers.
Our team members look forward to engaging in discussions during the roundtables, networking coffee breaks, and company exhibitions. If you are attending IABiomed 2026 and want to chat about gene co-expression networks, machine learning for drug response prediction, or potential research collaborations, please reach out to us during the event!
See you in Barcelona!
