I am Full Professor in the Management Department at Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla. I started in this institution as a Ph.D Grantholder in 1999, doing a predoctoral research stay with Professor Angelo DeNisi at Texas A&M University in 2002. I was promoted as Assistant Professor in 2003 and later as Associate Professor in 2011.

My research focus is related to Strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) in the last 20 years. The topic from my Ph.D was the contribution of HRM in organizational capabilities (2003). Other research streams I study are related to innovation, human capital, dynamic capabilities, employment relationships and Sustainable HRM.

As a result, I have published 25 papers in journals indexed in the Journal of Citations Reports (JCR) and Scimago Journal Rank (SJR). The most outstanding papers were published in Human Resource Management (2006, 2009 and 2020); R&D Management (2008), British Journal of Management (2012), Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Management (2019) and recently Human Resource Management Review (2020). These journals are indexed as Q1 JCR and SJR. Moreover, I have published three papers in The International Journal of HRM (2011; 2013 and 2017) and two papers in Business Research Quarterly (2014 and 2020), both publications are indexed as Q1 SJR. Other research works have been published in Personnel Review (2 papers in 2011 and other 2 papers in 2017); European Journal of International Management (2009 and 2015); The International Journal of Manpower (2017), and Employee Relations (2019), among others.

Furthermore, I am a member of research projects supported by the Spanish R&D Plan and the regional Andalusian government since 2006. In the last ten years, I was the leading researcher (IP) of 3 different projects within the Spanish R&D Plan. The first one was a project for Young Scholars dedicated to HRM and Dynamic Capabilities (ECO2010-14939, 2011-2013). A second project entailed the topic of Employment Relationships through the Employer and Employee Perspective (ECO2013-44274-P, 2014-2017). And a last project I was leading was related to Sustainability HRM Strategies (ECO2017-82208-P).  As results of my research in these projects I have presenting papers in more than 40 national and international conferences, most of these papers being accepted for publication in refereed journals later, as I detailed above.

Regarding teaching activities, I teach Ph.D, and Master Courses in the HRM field in my own University and other Spanish centers as Universidad de Murcia, Univ. Almería, Univ. Cádiz, Univ. Castilla La Mancha, Universidad Internacional de Andalucía or Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. In an international context, I was guest scholar in Master Programs at Twente University, The Netherlands (2008); Universidad Central del Caribe, Colombia (2009); Ghent University, Belgium (2014); Tilburg University, The Netherlands (2014); Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina (2015) and Universidad de Lima, Perú (2019 and 2020).

Additionally, I enjoyed two postdoctoral research stays supported by Erasmus Grants for professors (2014) in Ghent University with Professor Vanderstraeeten and Tilburg University with Professor Paauwe. Finally, I was a member of Scientific and Organizing Committees hosted in my University as the International Workshop on HRM (2001; 2005; 2011 y 2013) and Eastern Academy of Management in 2013. I was the chair of the last International Workshop HRM in my University in October 2018.
