Associate Professor of Economic History at the University Pablo de Olavide of Seville (Spain). My research revolve around the preindustrial societies and the political economy to improve the understanding of institutions and social changes in the Early Modern period (1500-1800), particularly Spain. I combine history, economic theory, historical archives field work, extensive data collection, and empirical analysis to offer insights into how the preindustrial economies and/or institutions functioned. Part of my work focus on understanding the impacts of inequality, human capital, and consumption patterns in preindustrial economies.

Prior to joining the Pablo de Olavide University, I was a Visiting Professor of Economic History at Carlos III University, Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, Assistant Professor of Economic History at Carlos III University, Research Affiliate at Valladolid University, and Teaching Assistant of Economic History at Burgos University. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Valladolid University and a B.S. in Economics and Business from Valladolid University.
