Aims

  • Research in the topics of interest to the network, mainly through:
    • Studies, analyses and dissemination of practices, tools and methodologies that may be technologically accessible and could be applied to sign languages and accessibility.
    • Organization of periodic events to share and coordinate the points of view of universities, the industry and users.
    • Research into sign language and accessibility.
    • Advances in the study of accessible interfaces for persons with hearing impairment, using web-based technologies, with a high degree of interaction with the user and that present complex information.
    • Coordinating and participating in the development of specifications and design criteria for accessible interfaces.
    • Development and assessment of accessible tools for the production of accessible content.
    • Evaluation and proposal of systems for the validation and monitoring of accessibility.
    • Analysis and proposal of technological solutions for the development and visualization of support media for persons with hearing impairment: sign language, subtitles, etc.
    • Locating emerging and existing technologies in different sectors: television, film industry, museums, leisure and free time, transport.
  • Supervision, development and assessment of emerging systems and technologies.
  • Dissemination of resources, activities, databases, research results, advances and development in the field of sign language, digital media and others, and their relation to the need for accessibility.
  • Promoting the inclusion of sign language and accessibility as a content or subject in the training of technicians related to the fields of interest to the network.
  • Advising public and government bodies in aspects related to accessibility in the topics of interest to the network.
  • Participation in national and international calls for research project funding, including those of the European Framework.
