Marxism for the xxi century. Some reflections and revisionist thesis
Keywords:
Ecological Economics, Feminist Economics, Institutionalism, Post-Keynesianism, Sraffianism, Marxism, MarxAbstract
The main objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between classical Marxism and later
developments on economic though. In the first place, the most relevant contributions of Marx's work are
highlighted. Second, the subsequent evolution of the Marxist economy is reviewed. Third, we study the
contributions of sraffians, post-Keynesians and institutionalists, showing that there are lines of though with
which Marxism must establish a fruitful interrelation. Fourth the role of feminist economics and ecological
economics is discussed, showing that they introduce topics that, although they are alien to orthodox
Marxism, have a connection with Marx's own reflections and need to be incorporated into any critical
analysis of capitalism. Finally, we conclude the need to reformulate Marxism as a tradition of critical
analysis, capable of dialogue and construction with other lines of thought, aimed at understanding social
functioning and offering ideas for its transformation.
