Call for a special monographic
Cuadernos de RES PUBLICA en Derecho y Criminología, is a biannual publication of the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, which disseminates original academic articles focused on the different social phenomena that affect criminal and criminological sciences.
Call for a special monograph for issue 3 of Cuadernos de RES PUBLICA in Law and Criminology, corresponding to the first half of 2024 to be published in January 2024, entitled ‘Issues surrounding Hate Crimes: delimitation, impact and expansion’.
The aim of the special monograph directed by researcher Marta Rodríguez Ramos and Professor Íñigo Gordón Benito, entitled ‘Issues surrounding Hate Crimes: delimitation, impact and expansion’, is to call on the scientific community, especially researchers in public law and criminology, to propose and bring together academic texts that address, from different approaches, the advances, challenges and different perspectives, in accordance with the following;
Suggested topics of the special monograph on ‘Issues surrounding Hate Crimes: delimitation, impact and expansion’.
- Anti-gypsyism and hatred.
- The difficult delimitation of discriminatory factors related to the sexual universe.
- Hate in sport: does ius puniendi intervention make sense?
- Infradenuncia and black numbers in hate crimes.
- Victimology in violent crimes committed against social minorities.
- Hate crimes: issues surrounding the protected legal right.
- Procedural challenges in the investigation and proof of hate crimes.
- Artificial intelligence for detecting and combating hate speech.
- Impact and expansion of hate crimes channelled through the Internet (cyber-hate).
- Hate crimes and gender violence: intertwining of criminal phenomena through the generic aggravating circumstance of discriminatory motives.
- Hate crimes and ideological extremism.
- Restorative approach in cases of hate and discrimination.
- Hate speech and its impact on rights and freedoms (dignity, honour, freedom of expression, etc.).
Editorial guidelines
Articles should be submitted through the journal's OJS site, at the link https://www.upo.es/revistas/index.php/respublica.
They must be unpublished, the product of academic research or reflection, and be aimed at observing a problem related to the theme of the call.
They will have a minimum length of 15 and a maximum of 25 pages, including sources and references.
They must be in Microsoft Word format and meet the specifications of the template provided by the journal itself.

The texts will be evaluated in peer-review format, in a double-blind system.
