This beginning course is designed for students with some background in Spanish. Emphasis is on building oral and written communication skills and on acquiring knowledge of the Spanish speaking world. Conducted in Spanish. The content of this course is at the A1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

This course is designed for students who have had two semesters of university-level Spanish. Emphasis is on expanding vocabulary and building oral and written communication skills as well as acquiring a greater awareness of the Spanish-speaking world. Conducted in Spanish. The content of this course is at the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Language of instruction: SPANISH

This course is designed for students who have had three semesters of university-level Spanish. Emphasis is on expanding vocabulary and building oral and written communication skills as well as acquiring a greater awareness of the Spanish-speaking world. The grammar and conversation classes will complement each other in order to reach the objectives of the B1 level as outlined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Which social, political, cultural and both national and international phenomena define Spain as it enters the 3rd decade of the 21st century? To answer this question, this course aims to analize, debate and understand the challenges which Spain faces in the context of a globalized world: the government model and its monarchy, peripheral and centralist nationalism, its linguistic and cultural diversity, migratory movements in search of the European dream, along with other hot topics such as the effectiveness of the educational system, the health system, gender issues, politics of historic memory or the change of the model of production which will be greatly affected by the effects of climatic change on the Iberian peninsula.

Qué fenómenos sociales, políticos y culturales, tanto nacionales como internacionales, conforman la España que entra en la tercera década del siglo XXI? Para responder a esta pregunta, este curso tiene por objetivos analizar, debatir y comprender los retos a los que se enfrenta España en el contexto de un mundo globalizado: el modelo de estado y su monarquía, los nacionalismos periféricos y centralistas, la España vaciada y sus retos demográficos, su diversidad lingüística y cultural, los movimientos migratorios que buscan el sueño europeo, junto con otras cuestiones candentes como la efectividad de su sistema educativo, sanitario, las cuestiones de género, las políticas de la memoria o el cambio de modelo productivo al que obligarán los efectos del cambio climático en toda la península ibérica.

Este curso está diseñado para estudiantes que han cursado al menos cuatro semestres de español en la universidad. El objetivo principal del curso es usar las destrezas adquiridas en el nivel inicial e intermedio para incrementar las habilidades orales y escritas del estudiante. Para conseguir estos objetivos, se usará un método comunicativo y de enfoque por tareas en el que se repase la gramática. También habrá lecturas culturales sobre España y debates que requieran el uso de un vocabulario práctico y comunicativo. Las clases de gramática y conversación se complementarán para alcanzar los objetivos propios del nivel B2 según el Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las Lenguas
