Changes in ageing and the conditioning factors related to stigma and heterocentrism of health and social services affect the health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) older people. The presumption of heterosexuality forces many to “re-closet” themselves in old age, exacerbated by the rejection and ignorance of professionals, creating inequality in access to services. It is crucial to train these professionals to ensure healthy, inclusive and respectful ageing with affective-sexual diversity. Inclusive care would prevent LGBTI seniors from facing barriers in Primary Care or refusing residences, affecting their access to quality care. The participation of LGBTI older people in the planning of public policies is essential. This work presents data from studies addresing theiropportunities for participation, the perceptions and difficulties identified are addressed, looking for points of agreement and discordance to move towards equity.
