Abstract

The review of Against Culture. Film, fashion, porn and art from the radical gaze of the creator of the queer punk zine critically analyses the work of filmmaker and author Bruce LaBruce, highlighting his provocative and dissident approach to popular culture from a queer punk perspective. Through a journey through chapters that address issues such as LGBTIQ+ representation in film, the porn industry, fashion and urban spaces, it shows how the work denounces the commodification of queer identities and proposes a cultural resistance through art. The methodology of the review is based on a thematic analysis of the chapters, connecting the content of the book with the editorial context in which it is published. In its conclusions, it underlines the value of this work as a critical tool in the face of cultural hegemony and highlights the importance of Editorial Cántico's collection «Los juncos salvajes» as a platform for dissident voices, committed to a queer, provocative and interdisciplinary literature that challenges the limits of what is established in the contemporary publishing panorama.
