Bartolomé Yun Casalilla es doctor por la Universidad de Valladolid, donde ejerció hasta 1999, y Catedrático de Historia Moderna en la Universidad Pablo Olavide de Sevilla desde 2000. Ha sido profesor invitado e investigador en instituciones como L’ Ecole Normale Superieur, London School of Economicsand anual member of The The Institute for Advanced Studies He was Professor of the European University Institute in Florene (2003-2013) and Head of the Deparment of History and Civilization (2009-2012), where he promoted European comparative, transnational and global studies.

Director of 30 doctoral thesis and 15 post-doctoral fellows, focuses on the history of European aristocracies, political economy of the Iberian empires and conssumption history in Spain and America. He has published several books in publishing houses such as Cambridge University Press, Palgrave, Ashgate, among others. One of his most distinguished works is Marte contra Minerva. El precio del imperio español, c.1450-1600 (Crítica, Barcelona, 2004) and he just published “Iberian World Empires and the Globalization of Europe, 1415-1668”(Palgrave-Macmillan, 2020), whose Spanish translation is forthcoming.

He is or has been a member of the assessment pannels of FCT of Portugal, Caixabank, and BBVA. Since 2009, he belongs to the granting committees that award European Research Council projects,, in which he has been performing advice duties.

He is a member of the European Academy (Academia Europaea).
