Abstract

This article deals with the study of the official document of the dowry of Cecilia Fernández de Heredia. This document reveals the richness of her dowry and it allows us to take a new look at the History of Collections in Spain. Valentín Carderera was the first who paid attention to this painting collection, but now due to the discovery of the original official document we know more about the paintings. Furthermore, this article provides the evidence to refute the belief that there were two important collectors in Modern Era Saragossa; the Fernández de Heredia collection and the Miguel Marín de Villanueva one. In fact, the documental and genealogical analysis shows they are one and the same.
